About Our CS Program
Delta Prep is offering a brand new CS Program in 2024!
This program is led by Fariha Ahmed, a prior Delta Prep SHSAT Tutor. She is currently attending Brooklyn Technical High School and is on the board of the Society of Women Engineers Club. She is passionate about teaching others and creating a positive social impact via her program.
Her mission is to teach incoming 8th graders the basics of Python, one of the most powerful and versatile programming languages.
By the end of the program, students should be able to understand the core components of coding, such as variables, loops, and functions.
These foundational skills will transfer easily to other programming languages and will assist students with their STEM journey.
How Does The Delta Prep CS Program Work?
Please note, we operate over Zoom and and not offering an in-person experience at this moment in time. Also, since this program is brand new, we are limiting seats to 15 middle school students local to NYC, specifically students that will be entering the 8th grade this fall.
The program will consist of 6 sessions that take place in July to August on Saturday mornings from 10AM to 12PM.
For the 6 sessions - 5 will be CS sessions and one will be joined with our SHSAT Program on a Sunday for a Career Day on where you can learn about various professions and industries our Team are working in.
Please see our Class Schedule for more information here.
We strongly encourage each student to attend every session - we believe that the more time a student spends in class, the more likely a student will get the academic support they need to thrive and learn. We also know sometimes external factors may prevent students from coming to class. Students may miss school for illness, emergencies, or for religious reasons with a notice via email before class for a given session.
Also, during sessions, we try to call on students to solve some questions or problems to engage the class and to enhance the learning experience. Students who are accepted into the program but fail to provide ample notice for absences or lateness, or show a lack of participation, may be removed from the program and replaced by a student on the waitlist.
Thank you for your interest in joining the free Delta Prep CS Program. Our goal is to allow students the opportunity to have high quality tutoring without the price tag attached to it.
